A carrier-locked device can only activate SIM cards from one specific operator. Even if your phone supports eSIM hardware, a carrier lock will prevent you from activating a ViaConecta eSIM. Contact your original carrier to request an unlock — this is usually free after your contract ends.

Yes — the underlying eSIM technology is standardised (GSMA spec). The setup process looks slightly different per OS: on iPhone you scan a QR code via Settings → Mobile Data; on Android it's Settings → Network → SIM → Add eSIM. Both take under 2 minutes.

Most devices can store 8–20 eSIM profiles. iPhone 15 and newer support up to 8 active eSIMs simultaneously. You can only switch between stored profiles at any time for free without re-purchasing.

For security reasons, ViaConecta services may not function correctly on jailbroken or rooted devices. eSIM profiles require a secure OS environment to install and activate properly.
